Welcome on the Isle of Sylt

Our hostel is situated right between the North Sea and the Wadden Sea. You have to get on a ship if you want to live closer to the ocean…

But even though we are surrounded by water it is fairly easy to get here: you can take a train over the Wadden Sea causeway, there are directs flights from Germany & Switzerland, and a car ferry commutes daily from Denmark.

This extraordinary location lets you experience the habitat “island & ocean” without much effort, it just happens. Our guided mudflat tours through the “Unesco World Heritage” Wadden Sea start right at the front door of our hostel and also the beach with its famous surf points is less than a 5 minute walk away.

We are happy to help you organize trips to local museums, hop on a excursion ship to visit the seal colonies, book a surf course, rent a bicycle to explore the island on your own, or tell you the best time to visit the seawater wave pool and its slides. On our premises you can book the skittle alley, record your own wake-up-call in our sound studio, do some research in the Wadden Lab, or get busy in one of our conference rooms…

We look forward hearing from you and welcome you onto our island.

EXPERIENCE SOMETHING! — «If all you had was academic ability, you wouldn’t have been able to get out of bed this morning. In fact, there wouldn’t have been a bed to get out of. No one could have made one. You could have written about the possibility of one, but you could not have constructed it.» Sir Ken Robinson
